Pastor Letter for November 2008
Dear Friends and members,
In this month we will focus on our families. God’s first instituted marriage between a man and a woman and blessed them. God’s desire for man is not to be alone and made a woman out of man’s rib and gave him as a helper. Woman is to help man and man is to love her as he loves himself for she is bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh and they are one and no one should separate them. God’s desire for man and woman is for them to multiply and fill the earth, God wants them to increase and rule the earth so that His name will be glorified through them. God wants a holy and intimate relationship with them. When a couple has children the first human institution “marriage” grow bigger and it is called “family”. In a family setting father figure is to lead to bless, to plan and to feed his household and teach them about God’s grace and mercies. Mother figure is to nurse her children, take care of her husband and children needs and support her husband to lead the family.
In the book of Joshua 24:15 it says “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…..But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua showed his leadership with fairness by giving a choice to choose, which means his leadership, is not dictatorship. Joshua was time conscious by saying “this day” that was the present day for the Israelites , he reminded them that time is running out and that decision is to make before it is too late. Another fact was that Joshua reminded his people by asking a question “whom will you serve?” there are many other man made god or evil spirits and idols that people choose to worship at that time but Joshua’s decision for him and his family is to serve the almighty God , the Lord. Joshua knew whom he will serve, whom his house will serve and Joshua knew his destiny and blessings that waiting for him in the Promised Land as well as in the wilderness.
Dear friends and members as we enter into 11th month of 2008 let us make decision to serve the Lord like Joshua, to let our family know that we have nothing to loose to serve the Lord. The greatest blessing we inherit from our leaders and family is serving the Lord. The generations that serve the Lord always receive God’s promises of righteous, peace, joy and the Holy Spirit. Choose to serve and make a firm decision like Joshua to bless his family. May you all be blessed and serve the Lord with gladness as psalms 100:2 says. God bless you all.
